The Journal of History and Military Studies (JHMS-NDA) is dedicated to promoting the unrestricted dissemination of scholarly knowledge. In line with this commitment, all published articles are made freely accessible online without subscription fees or access barriers.  This open access policy is designed to support academic transparency, foster global readership, and increase the visibility and citation of authors’ work. By removing restrictions to knowledge sharing, JHMS-NDA encourages intellectual exchange across disciplines and contributes meaningfully to research and discourse in the fields of history, military studies, and related areas.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement:

The Journal of History and Military Studies (JHMS-NDA) upholds the highest ethical standards throughout the publication process. All stakeholders—authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to maintain integrity, transparency, and professionalism in accordance with the best practices in academic publishing.

JHMS-NDA follows the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure fairness, accountability, and scholarly excellence. For detailed information, please refer to the COPE guidelines: COPE Code of Conduct.

We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy on plagiarism. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original and free from any form of plagiarism. All manuscripts are subjected to an initial editorial review and a mandatory plagiarism check using professional tools such as Grammarly’s plagiarism detector. Any submission found to contain plagiarised content will be automatically rejected.

Manuscript Review Process:

The Journal of History and Military Studies (JHMS-NDA) employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process aimed at maintaining academic excellence and integrity. The standard review turnaround period is between 5 to 8 weeks, ensuring timely yet thorough evaluation.

Each submitted manuscript is assigned to an editorial board member and an independent external reviewer with relevant subject expertise. Reviewers assess submissions based on scholarly relevance, methodological soundness, logical consistency, originality, and suitability for the journal’s scope. Final decisions—acceptance, revision, or rejection—are made based on the reviewers’ recommendations and editorial discretion.

To uphold impartiality, authors’ identities and institutional affiliations are concealed from reviewers during the review process. Authors are required to submit a separate cover page that includes the full names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID IDs of all contributors.

Submissions from JHMS-NDA editorial board members undergo the same independent review process to ensure fairness. Manuscripts containing defamatory, discriminatory, or inappropriate language will be rejected outright. The Editorial Board reserves the right to decline any manuscript that does not meet the journal’s ethical, academic, or editorial standards.

Withdrawal, Retraction, and Correction Policies:

• Withdrawal Policy:
  Authors who wish to withdraw a submitted manuscript must send a formal letter of request to the JHMS-NDA editorial office, clearly stating the reason for withdrawal. Manuscripts withdrawn within 12 days of initial submission incur no withdrawal fee. However, withdrawals requested after the peer review or acceptance stages may attract a withdrawal fee to compensate for editorial and review efforts already expended.

  Correction Policy:
  Prior to publication, PDF galley proofs are sent to the corresponding author for final proofreading. Authors are expected to review these proofs carefully to ensure accuracy and completeness. Post-publication corrections that significantly impact interpretation, data, or citation will be addressed in the next journal issue under the section titled “Corrections and Addendum.”

  Retraction Policy:
  A published article may be retracted when serious errors, ethical breaches (e.g., plagiarism or data fabrication), or invalid findings are discovered. Retraction decisions are made in alignment with international best practices, including the COPE Retraction Guidelines.
